Tiger Air Australia

When Virgin Australia and Tiger Air merged there was a need to rationalise and relocate. To meet their future needs Smith + Tracey have re-purposed two double-storey buildings adjoining their maintenance hangars at Melbourne Airport.

The buildings provide staff an outlook to the arrivals and departures of aircraft at the southern end of the runway. The design consolidates the Melbourne staff’s training, maintenance and administrative centres into one common cluster of buildings, which Smith + Tracey had also previously refurbished.

It is now a renewed and refreshed working environment within the recycled buildings.

Connectivity was enhanced via the addition of a new lift which enabled compliant access throughout. All finishes employed reflect the vibrancy of Tiger Air’s corporate standards and use a palette that has successfully revived a building that had been vacant for 15 years.
