The brief outcome for this project required Deakin University provide a safe, engaging and flexible indoor environment for a collaborative academic and research workspace hub, post covid, whilst at the same time, transform and revitalise a tired 2 storey 1980’s building at Waurn Ponds Campus via efficient refurbishment.
The new fit-out dispensed with the outdated cellular workplaces and introduced a diverse range of settings, from private independent, small group and collaborative zones, all designed to cater for the different activities and modes of working. Communication and the sharing of ideas amongst students and mentors is fundamental to successful research and learning and along with a refreshed interior fitout, the team at S+T have transformed Building KC into a welcoming and healthy working environment.
The final fitout solution draws heavily from our environmental philosophy and encourages new ways of connecting through purposeful spaces for academic and industry collaboration in support of world leading educational endeavours at Deakin.
